Week of October26th

Last week we had some trouble with the coil pots so I decided to scratch that idea and allow the children so creative freedom. This week they will be able to sculpt what ever they want, allow it to dry, and the next week we will design and paint them. This should be fun for all!!

Enjoy the week!!

Week of October 19th

Today we will be working with clay. We will learn together how to make coil pots by rolling the clay into long slender tube-like pieces. Then once we have a solid base, we will coil each piece around and around until it builds up into their coil pot. Once they are done, we will let them dry for a week, and then the next week we will decorate them. I hope everyone enjoys this.

Enjoy this beautiful weather!!

Week of October 12th

This week we worked with water colors. We did a fun project using the colors brown, orange, and green to make scary jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. The children were given the stencil and then granted artistic freedom to decorate their jack-o-lantern how ever they wanted to. This got the children familiar with the water colors so we can use them in future projects.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Mr. Sean

Week of October 5th

Sorry for the late update, things have been a little crazy. This last week we have introduced different gradients of shading. We did this by having the children take several different colors and take them from a solid color to almost white, with every shade of that color in between. This shows the children that they don't have to settle for just one color, they could just use a different shade. Until next week, thanks again!!

Enjoy the week,
Mr Sean

Week of September 28th

The past few weeks we have been focused on the fundamentals of art. We have been learning the purposes of a color wheel and why it works that way. This week we will be working with colored pencils and further implementing the uses of the color wheel. I will show the children how blending certain colors can create new colors, as well as showing them how to use primary, secondary, and complimentary.

Have a great week,
Mr. Sean :-)
